FIW is a central scientific institution of the University of Bonn and aims at embedding the University in a wider local, regional and international context. Forms of cooperation concentrate on joint research and fields of action related to democracy, science and development.
FIW features separate departments for democracy research, scientific research, development research and research focusing on the digital society.
FIW is seen as an instrument to internationalize the University of Bonn and to support processes of internationalization within the City of Bonn and the region.
The Forum is located at Heussallee 18-24. At these premises, FIW also hosts the Dahrendorf library.
