The August Macke House in Bonn is the former home and studio of August Macke. The artist lived here with his family from the beginning of 1911 to August 1914.

Thanks to the civic spirit and hard work of a group of individuals the house was preserved, and since 1991 has been accessible to the public as a museum and exhibition site. It is operated by the Verein August Macke Haus e.V. and financed by the Stiftung August Macke Haus der Sparkasse in Bonn.

The museum landscape continues in the northern part of Bonn, where seven exhibiting institutions have formed the Art Square (Kunstcarré). The museums present a great variety of exhibitions: from the witnesses of Rhenish history and culture and art from the old stone age to the present day at the Rhenish Regional Museum (LVR Landesmuseum Bonn) and modern art displayed at the Bonn's Art Association (Bonner Kunstverein). A most original museum of the Kunstcarré is, without doubt, the Women's Museum (Frauenmuseum), which was the first of its kind in Europe. Culture and art designed by and for women are presented in the setting of a former department store.
