Mayor congratulates Bonn Olympic winners Lührs and Rendschmidt

The past Olympic week in Paris was a complete success for sport in Bonn: triathlete Lasse Lührs won a gold medal in the mixed relay on Monday, 5 August 2024, and Max Rendschmidt took gold in the four-man kayak over 500 meters on Thursday, 8 August.

This is Rendschmidt's fourth gold medal at the Olympics, three of which he won in the four-man kayak. He also carried the German flag together with triathlete Laura Lindemann at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in the Stade de France.

"I would like to congratulate Lasse Lührs and Max Rendschmidt on behalf of the City of Bonn and also personally on these fantastic achievements! And I would like to thank them both for representing Bonn so successfully at this major international competition, wishing them a safe trip home," said Mayor Katja Dörner.
