Seventeen Goals – One Future

Call for a global week of action on the 17 sustainable development goals: #ACT4SDGs

September 25, 2020 was the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations' Agenda 2030 with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They place a responsibility on all states, cities and people to make the world a more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable place until 2030.

Just in time for the anniversary, the digital "17-Goals Wheel of Fortune" of the City of Bonn has been launched:  17-Goals Wheel of Fortune (opens in a new tab)

Join in, test your knowledge and learn more about the global challenges posed by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and, above all, about concrete examples of implementation in Bonn.

The Wheel of Fortune is one of the contributions of the City of Bonn to the global action week “Global Week to #ACT4SDGs” for the 17 Goals. The United Nations Global SDG Action Campaign based here calls on all individuals and groups around the world to join in this Global Week to #ACT4SDGs and enter their contribution online.

17 Goals for Sustainable Development

With Agenda 2030 and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the international community has set itself the goal of saving the planet and working together to overcome global problems such as climate change, biodiversity loss, poverty, hunger, growing inequalities and armed conflicts.

All 17 Goals are interrelated. They commit all states and communities to making their own societies socially just and economically and ecologically sustainable. At the same time, each and every individual is called upon - for example, to act in a climate- and resource-friendly manner and to consume fairly. It is important not to live at the expense of other countries or future generations and to leave no one behind.

All over the world, discussions are currently being held on how these goals can be implemented. Cities and municipalities have a central role to play in this. As the German city of the United Nations and sustainability hub, Bonn has a special responsibility to implement the SDGs in Bonn.

With the first municipal Sustainability Strategy, which was adopted by the Bonn City Council on February 7, 2019, the city is provided with a binding framework.
