OECD report on the status of implementation of the SDGs

The report describes the status of implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bonn.

The City of Bonn and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) presented the report "A Territorial Approach to the SDGs in Bonn" on Monday, 26 October 2020. The report had been developed in the context of the City of Bonn's participation in the OECD program "A Territorial Approach to the SDGs", in which the City of Bonn had participated since July 2018 together with eight other pilot regions and cities worldwide from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Argentina, Brazil and Russia. The program helps cities and regions to implement the SDGs.

The OECD has also developed an SDG monitoring tool that shows where cities and regions stand in international comparison in achieving SDGs:  www.oecd-local-sdgs.org/  (opens in a new tab)

The report also takes into account the discussions that took place during the two OECD visits to Bonn in November 2018 and January 2020 with various stakeholders from science, business and civil society. It contains various recommendations, for example on the planning, strategic implementation and anchoring of SDGs to the various levels of government, on budget planning and reporting, and on the involvement of other stakeholders.
