International Rescue Committee Germany gGmbH

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. Since its foundation in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein, the organisation has been providing life-saving assistance, especially for refugees. Today they support about 23 million people in over 40 countries around the world every year. Their goal is to contribute to the alleviation of their suffering and to guarantee the conditions for a life in dignity and hope. They play a leading role in developing new, demonstrably effective methods and approaches to promote the protection and self-determination of particularly vulnerable people. This is how IRC prepares the way "from harm to home” - from suffering back to life. IRC is one of the largest international aid organisations with a focus on fragile contexts.
Since 2016, IRC has also been active in Germany with offices in Bonn and Berlin. In Germany, the focus is on the education of refugee children and young people, protection against violence against refugees in need of protection, and economic integration through employment and self-employment.
