The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) serves all disciplines of science and research by means of financial funding of research projects. It accomplished its mandate as an autonomous organisation of German Science, which elects the scientific members of its boards and committees autonomously. The majority on all voting levels are the delegated members of science. DFG gives advice to parliaments and authorities in matters of science, fosters the relations with economy and promotes the relations of German researchers with foreign science and research. It focuses in particular on the promotion of junior scientists and on gender equality in science.
