In order to officially register a marriage, there are a number of formalities which will need to be taken care of and a number of documents that you will need to bring, apart from a valid ID or passport. It is advisable to contact or visit the registry office beforehand.
In the following cases, you should definitely plan a personal visit to the registry office:
- one partner has not been born on federal territory
- one partner has a foreign citizenship
- one partner has been married abroad
- one partner has been divorced abroad
Personal interviews and advisory services will be available during regular opening hours. These are Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm, Tuesdays from 8 am to 1 pm only. Please plan to be there at least one hour before the registry office closes for the day. No need to make an appointment beforehand.
