Over the next few months, secondary schools will once again be offering information evenings and open days for parents and pupils in the fourth year of primary school in the 2024/2025 school year to present their offers and school concepts. This will allow parents and children to get an idea of which school is right for them. The City of Bonn has compiled all known school events at  www.bonn.de/anmeldeverfahren  (opens in a new tab)

In North Rhine-Westphalia, a coordinated admission procedure is carried out for the transition from year 4 of elementary school to secondary general education schools. The aim is to avoid double and multiple registrations. For this purpose, a registration form is issued to the legal guardians of each child by the elementary school together with the half-year report of the fourth grade. The legal guardians then use this registration form to enrol their children at a secondary school of their choice.

Each child can only be registered at one school. Independent schools in Bonn, the so-called alternative schools, also take part in this procedure. The registration periods are in January (comprehensive schools) and February (other types of secondary schools); the dates for alternative schools may differ.
