Just in time for the start of the Spring Festival, the Beethoven grand piano from Bonn was set up in Chengdu in the Yanlord Mall in the city center on 23 January. A young passer-by, apparently on his way to school, started practicing his music right away. The grand piano, which is beautifully decorated with motifs from Bonn and Chengdu, is intended to draw attention to the long-standing partnership between Bonn and Chengdu. The reason for its installation was the 15th anniversary of the signing of the partnership agreement in 2024.

The instrument had previously been exhibited in the two concert halls of Bonn's twin city in China on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the town twinning, attracting lots of attention and musicians young and old. At a later point, the grand piano will be moved to another mall in the southern part of Chengdu, which was built in the local “European style”. In addition to numerous stores, there is also a museum and galleries: culture and commerce go hand in hand. A perfect setting for the beautiful instrument from Bonn!

The lanterns in the picture are a symbol of the New Year and were originally intended to drive away evil winter spirits.
