Eligible to vote in local elections in our city are Germans as well as citizens of the other 26 EU member states who have reached the age of 16 on the day of the election, have lived or otherwise habitually resided in the City of Bonn's electoral territory from at least the 16th day before the election and are not excluded from the right to vote.

The direct elections of Mayors in North Rhine-Westphalia have been held since 1999. The persons entitled to vote have one vote each. Anyone who has received more than half of the valid votes is elected. If this majority is not achieved, a second ballot must be held between the two best placed candidates. The law on the reintroduction of the runoff election of 3 May 2011 lays down the details.

Eligible to vote in local elections in our city are Germans as well as citizens of the other 26 EU member states who have reached the age of 16 on the day of the election, who have lived in the electoral territory of the City of Bonn from at least the 16th day before the election or who otherwise normally reside there and are not excluded from the right to vote.

All persons entitled to vote can then cast one vote each

• for the Council of the City of Bonn
• and for one of the four district representations of Bonn, Beuel, Bad Godesberg or Hardtberg (depending on the place of residence).

In addition, a direct election for the office of Mayor will be held on the same day.

The Integration Council represents the political interests of Bonn's migrants. One third of the members are delegated by the parliamentary groups represented in the City Council and two thirds are elected for the duration of the Council's election period according to the provisions as laid down by § 27 of the municipal code (Gemeindeordnung), either by list or as individual candidates.
