This year's theme is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Around the world, working conditions are not good: Every day, millions of people work under inhumane and dangerous conditions and fail to earn enough money to survive. Children are subject to exploitation and work that is hazardous to their health, without the chance to receive an education. Fair Week addresses the question of how Fair Trade can contribute to establishing decent working conditions. Among other things, it is about building sustainable structures and partnership-based respect.
More than 2,000 Fair Trade activities are organized across Germany during Fair Trade Week. To ensure that a diverse Fair Week program can once again be published in Bonn, everyone who feels connected to the idea of Fair Trade is cordially invited to participate in this year’s Fair Week with their own creative offerings. Youth groups, church initiatives, associations, schools, kindergartens, cafés, restaurants, stores and committed individuals can show that they are convinced of fair trade products. Possible activities include lectures, tasting and sales events, prayers, discussions, flash mobs or film evenings, all of which must of course comply with the applicable Corona regulations.
