Sridharan: "We are in the middle of the Corona pandemic"

The city of Bonn attributes the currently still slight but steady increase in the number of proven corona cases primarily to people returning to Bonn. Currently 34 people in Bonn are acutely infected with the virus.

The number of new infections over the past seven days is 28, which corresponds to 8.48 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the emergency mechanism against rising infection numbers introduced by the federal and state governments (50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants), this figure is 165 for Bonn with 330,000 inhabitants. The total number of confirmed infections is 807, 764 people have recovered in the meantime, nine have died.

The city once again insists that travellers who have been in a risk area for the last 14 days must be placed in home quarantine for two weeks after their return. The Robert Koch Institute ( www.rki.de) defines what a risk area is on a daily basis; it currently covers more than 120 countries. "We are still in the middle of the Corona pandemic. Therefore, please take this information seriously," says Mayor Ashok Sridharan. "And please report to our health department immediately upon returning from such an area." All details can be found at  www.bonn.de/coronavirus. The Health Department can release people from quarantine if they present a medical certificate and a current negative Covid-19 test result, as is possible at Cologne/Bonn Airport, for example.
