Editorial Newsletter Bonn International September

Dear Friend of Bonn,

In this issue of our Bonn International Newsletter, we will put a spotlight on two special anniversaries in Bonn: UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) both turn 25 this year! We spoke to Ibrahim Thiaw, UNCCD Executive Secretary, about the achievements and future challenges and about Bonn’s assets as a host city.

12 October will see this years´ celebration of United Nations Day in Bonn. Our annual UN Talks will be held on 11 October, on the eve of Bonn’s UN Day celebration. This year’s dialogue will place a special focus on the opportunities and challenges of Germany’s Membership in the United Nations Security Council.

Also, meet the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm Universität Bonn: it features a total of six Clusters of Excellence, more than any other university Germany-wide.

Fall in our city will see lots of Beethoven: between 6 and 29 September, Bonn will celebrate its greatest son with an incredible number of high-class concerts and events at many venues all over town.
