Self-testing to be possible at all schools in Bonn

According to the current state of affairs, schools in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Bonn, are to resume alternating classes from Monday, April 12, 2021.

The state has also announced mandatory testing for the coronavirus for all students. The city administration is currently waiting for the relevant explanations from the Ministry of Education. According to the announcement by the state, all schools - i.e. for the first time also all primary and special schools in Bonn - are to receive self-tests this week. This is to ensure that all students will have the opportunity to take two self-tests per week when school starts after the Easter vacations. The self-tests will be delivered by the state.

In the meantime, 59,373 people in Bonn have received their first vaccination, 33,285 of them at the Vaccination Center at WorldCCBonn, and 21,969 have received their second vaccination, 8,042 of them at the Vaccination Center.

People in the more than 30 professional and special groups can no longer book new appointments for vaccination at the Vaccination Center. They must wait for their age group and primary care physicians to clear them for vaccinations. Similarly, the Immunization Center no longer has appointments for the specials for those over 60 with Astrazeneca, those with pre-existing conditions, and those with Care Level 5 and 4. These also contact their primary care physicians when called. Currently, this only applies to people with the relevant diseases according to Section 3 of the Corona Vaccination Ordinance. The special campaigns have allowed free vaccination capacity to be used within the framework of federal and state requirements.

Starting Thursday, April 8, 2021, vaccinations will begin in the 70- to 79-year-old age group. Since April 6, people born in 1941 (as of February 1) have been able to book appointments via the portal or hotline of the North Rhine Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. The city of Bonn will work to ensure that additional cohorts are released in the short term.

A vaccination overview can be found on the website (opens in a new tab).

Rapid testing center for city employees

A rapid testing center for employees of the city administration and for elected officials will go into operation in the City Hall on Thursday, April 8, 2021. It is a voluntary offer that can initially be used once a week; an expansion to two tests per week is planned. The service will be operated by a private provider. With the test offer, the city of Bonn wants to ensure the best possible infection protection for its employees. At the end of March, the Bund-Länder Conference urged employers to expand the rapid test service.

In addition, the city administration will also issue rapid tests for self-use, which are aimed in particular at employees in the field offices. The rapid tests have been announced for this week by the supplier.
