The City of Bonn will again be involved in a number of international conferences and events this year. Please find a selection below. Highlight: 50 years ECMWF.

The City of Bonn maintains an annual partnership with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) for the year 2025. We spoke to Dr. Vincent-Henri Peuch, Head of ECMWF’s Bonn site, about the Centre’s important work and the 50th anniversary celebrations in Bonn.

Bonn has been a member of the Climate Alliance, the largest European city network for comprehensive and fair climate protection, since 1995. The Climate Alliance has now honored this membership.

Bonn wants to become climate-neutral by 2035 and is consistently pursuing this goal with its strategic roadmap, the Climate Plan 2035. The Bonn Climate Compass uses facts and figures to show where the city stands on the way to achieving this ambitious goal.

On Monday, February 10, 2025, the City of Bonn suspended its channel on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The channels (@BundesstadtBonn, @BonnGlobal) will remain in place, but will only be used for breaking news in emergencies in future, such as the discovery of bombs or major incidents. 

With a joint reception, Mayor Katja Dörner and the Chairwoman of the Integration Council, Binnaz Öztoprak, honored the great commitment to integration and peaceful social coexistence in Bonn in 2025 and at the same time gave the opportunity for exchange and networking. 

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Antonia Bärk, Henny Kirst and Lasse Lührs signed the Golden Book of the City of Bonn for their extraordinary successes in the past year.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, Mayor Katja Dörner proclaimed Gaurang I from India as the symbolic figure of the international Carnival in Bonn.

Retrospectives, the continuation of well-known series such as “Zwischenspiel” and “Ausgezeichnet” as well as the 20th Videonale will characterize the coming year at the Kunstmuseum Bonn.
