Beethoven Pastoral Project.

As part of the World Climate Change Conference COP23 in Bonn, the Beethoven Jubilaeums Gesellschaft announced in November 2017 a first major project for Beethoven Year 2020. The Beethoven Pastoral Project invites artists around the world to establish a network and to make their own interpretation of Pastoral Symphony.

In 2020 the world will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. Today the city of Beethoven is UNO city and seat of the UN´s Climate Change Secretariat. Ensembles and individual artists from around the world are invited to perform Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony on June 5th, 2020, the United Nations World Environment Day.

Before this, they are asked to share their artistic engagement with this work on the project website, linking this to the objectives of the Paris Climate Change Agreement with a statement about the protection of the environment.

The project is supported by the General Secretary of the United Nations, António Guterres.
