The Bonn Information as a guide
Despite the pandemic, the Germans' desire to travel continues unabated. The Bonn-Information is the central tourist service point of the city of Bonn for individual travelers and group travelers, but also for citizens of Bonn who are active in leisure activities. On 362 days a year, the service team advises customers with a great deal of insider knowledge on possible leisure activities and accommodations before they start their trip or excursion. Furthermore, there is a high demand for information from visitors on the given conditions (and restrictions) on site, on ticket sales, on opening hours, etc. In order to increase the security standard, the digital advisory channels were also expanded, for example via a Whats-App service, and the customer and advisory area was completely modernized.
Bonn celebrates Beethoven
The Beethoven anniversary year 2020/2021 was a historic opportunity to draw attention to Bonn and the region as a tourist destination. The cooperation of Beethoven Jubiläums GmbH with the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) drew the worldwide attention of the tourism industry to the Beethoven city of Bonn and the region. After Lonely Planet, the leading travel guide, placed the Beethoven city of Bonn in fifth place among the world's 10 most worthwhile destinations, tourist interest increased noticeably. The Beethoven Tour with eleven information stelae in the Bonn city area and eleven stelae in the Rhein-Sieg district remains in place as a starting point for future Beethoven discoverers. Digital offerings created as a result of the Corona pandemic will continue to appeal to new target groups in the future and offer numerous permanent suggestions for individual visit and travel experiences.
Bonn as a partner in the NRW Tourism Data Hub
In cooperation with the Tourism Association of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of Bonn has been publishing important tourist information via a statewide data hub since spring 2021. In addition to the service benefits for customers, the data hub also increases the reach and visibility of local offers and excursion tips and can also serve to effectively guide and orient visitors. Further technological applications, such as the implementation of a Progressive Web App (PWA), are currently being planned. A special focus of the Bonn-Information is also the digital presentation of barrier-free, tourist information.
