Bonn has recorded an increasing number of events in recent years. The central location of the location with excellent connections to several airports and ICE train stops within a radius of 150 kilometers ensure short transfer times. The generous range of hotel facilities provides for accommodation of international standard. A wide variety of event formats can be realised in the diverse Bonn locations. In addition, the city offers numerous points of contact through Bonn's museums and cultural institutions for the creation of high-quality supporting programmes.
Meetings and conferences
Bonn has developed into an international conference location. Examples from last year include the Bonn Climate Change Conference, held from 15 to 27 June 2019, which again attracted some 3,000 delegates from the member states of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. In June 2019, Deutsche Welle hosted the 12th Global Media Forum, which is now firmly established as Germany's largest international media conference.
Due to the corona pandemic, meetings and conferences could only take place to a limited extent since March 2020. The Bonn Region Convention Bureau, which is regionally oriented and anchored at Tourismus & Congress GmbH Region Bonn/Rhein-Sieg/Ahrweiler (T&C), offers an up-to-date overview of conference venues and the possibilities within the current conditions. It forms an interface to the regional players and T&C and is the contact point in the congress business for national and international event planners.
The Federal City of Bonn has a highly modern conference centre directly on the Rhine. The World Conference Center Bonn - WorldCCBonn for short - in the Bundesviertel offers a versatile setting for congresses, meetings, conferences, concerts and events of all kinds for up to 7,000 people. The heart of the building ensemble on United Nations Square is the main building, which was opened in 2015. Together with the three parliament buildings and the multi-storey car park, it forms the extension of the WorldCCBonn. The former plenary hall of the German Bundestag, the Vice President's Building - the so-called existing buildings - and the parking lot on Charles-de-Gaulle-Strasse round off the diverse range of facilities of the World Conference Center Bonn. The Conference Center strengthens Bonn as a German UN city and location of the United Nations. The United Nations Campus is right next door. The headquarters of Deutsche Post DHL Group, Deutsche Welle, the houses of the Museum Mile and a number of international organizations are also in the immediate vicinity.
Event locations in Bonn
In addition to the space available in hotels, scientific institutions and other providers, there are also event venues owned by the City of Bonn that can be used for a wide variety of purposes. At present, discussions are taking place both within the administration and in the political bodies on the further development of the Bonn conference and event market, the future use of municipal objects and important questions concerning the redevelopment of the municipal event locations.
